ABOUT US
Save The Heart is a youth-led initiative working to improve cardiovascular health in our community and beyond. As heart and stroke diseases continue to rise globally and locally, we believe it is imperative to take action. To date, we have used social media and participated in a community night market to spread awareness, hosting Jeopardy, distributing posters, and engaging in an interactive pledge activity. We are a team of high school students from Ontario, collaborating with our HOSA chapter to raise awareness about the impact of these diseases, as well as the importance of prevention, addressing inequality, and reducing mortality. Our team consists of Kurinche Thiyagarajah, Kumanan Thiyagarajah, Sasvat Patel, and Anuj Yeole, all 16 years old.
PHILOSOPHY & GOALS
At Save The Heart, we are a group of individuals that take pride in being problem solvers who are not afraid to take risks. We believe that with boldness, creativity and heart, there is nothing we can’t accomplish. But above all, our strength lies in teamwork. Each and every one of us has the capability to contribute no matter our experience or background. With this strength behind us, just imagine what we can achieve together.
According to data collected throughout recent years, 2.6 MILLION adults. 20 and older have been diagnosed with heart disease in Canada. Without enough mainstream media coverage, we’re ignorant of a health concern millions of Canadians suffer from. Our goals are to advocate, increase awareness, provide educational material and create a local impact in the fight against heart and stroke diseases!
